A US prepaid card program, launched on one cardholder experience.
A US prepaid card program, from the cardholder apps on web and mobile down to the backend that four external systems plug into.
Client withheld under NDA
Challenge
The prepaid program relied on separate issuing, card-network, mobile-wallet and identity services. Cardholders needed to experience them as one account, without seeing the complexity behind each interaction.
What we built
- Cardholder web and mobile apps: onboarding, balance, transaction history, card controls.
- A backend-for-frontend that puts one API in front of the card-issuing core.
- Network tokenization and provisioning into mobile wallets.
- Real-time KYC inside onboarding, with the decision shown to the cardholder as it lands.
- Card and transaction state kept consistent between the apps and the issuing core.
Business outcome
Cardholders can onboard, manage their cards and view the same account information across web and mobile without navigating separate systems.
The program team can improve the cardholder experience through the UI and backend-for-frontend without rebuilding each underlying provider integration.
